i play online and in casinos, and keeping the cards passable is either N/A or done for me, but i just bought a pack of copag sigs, and the blurb said washable. I want to know what exactly that means pertaining to cards.

Re: washable cards?
Definitely do NOT put them in the dishwasher. The water's too hot, and I've heard it will warp the cards.
However, if the cards get messy (I've heard some people drink BEER while playing POKER! Shocking, I know. ) you can wash them. The best plan seems to be using a wet cloth to wipe each one, leaving them open on a table to dry. But yours are new. I don't think you have to wash them very often. -Sam |

Re: washable cards?
1. put on some jeans
2. put one card in each of the front & back pockets 3. take off the jeans 4. repeat 12 more times 5. throw all 13 pairs of jeans in the washing machine 6. wash like hell, extra hot water, extra bleach 7. now buy new cards OK, just kidding! My rule is clean them as little as necessary. A quick wipe with a damp towel or paper towel usually does the trick. Let 'em dry for a minute or wipe them dry. A little rubbing for dried-on pizza or sticky jagermeister. A little dish detergent on the towel for tougher stuff. Never hot water. Never in the dishwasher (yes, some people have tried!). Never anything abrasive like Ajax or sandpaper. Common sense always. Good luck, and enjoy your Copags for a looooong time! |

Re: washable cards?
1. Use cold water, a soft cloth, and a mild neutral soap (soap is not always necessary). Never use hot water to wash your cards.
2. Rub very lightly on both sides and rinse quickly. 3. Dry immediately using a clean, soft cloth. 4. Clean only a few cards at a time to ensure proper drying. 5. Once cloth-dryed, spread your cards on a table and allow to air-dry up to one hour per side; avoid direct sunlight or close proximity to heating elements. 6. Never use detergent or alkaline soap. 7. Never place cards in a washing machine. 8. Never put cards away while still wet. 9. Always play on a soft, dye-proof table. 10. Never store cards in direct sunlight or in close proximity to heating elements. |

[/ QUOTE ] I've washed my Kems a couple of times now, and about half of them get a bit of a curl to them while drying, so I'd add one final step: 11. After the cards are completely dry, put the deck under half a set of encyclopedias for a few days to flatten the cards back out. |

[/ QUOTE ] You put the whole deck under the stack of books, or smaller piles of cards? I guess the whole deck would work, but I'd think balancing would be hard. [/ QUOTE ] how many copies of Microsoft Encarta is that, approximately? [/ QUOTE ] Let me see... *gets out calculator* ...about 180 copies, including the CD case. Seriously, though, I've taken to using one decent hard-cover book plus two 10 Kg weights on top of the entire deck. It's flattened out many a curl (including non-cleaning-related ones), and there's no balance problem unless you live in a very earthquake-prone area. |
