$100-200 hand that I played a little unconventionally for me.
Decent semi-pro raises in middle position. Very loose player with slightly above average aggression cold calls on the button. I call in the BB with AhJh. Flop is Ac 9s 3h. I check, MP checks, button checks. Turn is 7c. I check, MP bets, Button calls, I checkraise. It felt like a good line but I thought I'd see what others think. |

I like it. I also like calling and betting any river.

Were you planning on CR the flop?

Not a bad line, IMO. I probably would lead on the turn, however. I hate the chance to give another free card to someone who picked up a club draw, or some other half-ass draw.

I like it in that if you're up against anything but two super-passive guys at least one of them probably won't be able to pass up the opporutunity to try to buy the pot when you check twice. It can work out real nice sometimes when the middle guy, as happened here, takes a stab and the second guy, thinking exactly that, calls and you can now hit 'em both up. Sometimes betting is better in that they might think the same thing of you and call you up with weak hands; and this keeps it from being checked through and allowing them a second free card when they've picked up a flush or belly-buster draw. It can also be beneficial later on when they've seen you check top pair twice.

Were you planning on CR the flop? [/ QUOTE ] It depended on the action. Bet-call, most likely yes. Anything else, no. |

TSP [/ QUOTE ] There are opponents I might have bet out against, but I figured that the original raiser almost had to take a shot at it after I checked twice and the button checked behind on the flop. If he failed to bet, rightly or wrongly I was counting on the button to take a stab. In that game, there aren't many times that both the flop and turn get checked around in raised pots. |

[/ QUOTE ] Thanks, you bring up some good points about table image I think. And as I mentioned in my last response, it's pretty rare that the flop and turn both get checked around in a raised pot in that game. This was an odd line as I hadn't planned it that way, it was just how it developed. I'm sure I would have been angry if they checked the turn through, but then again, I guess if they check it through after that check-check-check flop action, they likely couldn't have called me if I had bet out anyways. |
