Backing off of your usual limits
It's easy to switch tables to find a weak game online. At the casino, it's a little more apparent.
The other day, I sat down in my usual 15/30 game and found it a lot tighter than normal. After about 45 minutes, I picked up and switched into the 10/20 game and had a far better table. The question is what to say to the guys you just sat down with at the higher limit so you don't lose face and get teased for moving down in limits. I suppose it's silly for me to wory about it, but a reputation is nice to have and I'd rather that the tougher opponents know that I fear them. |

Re: Backing off of your usual limits
Put your ego aside. Ego gets in the way of the game.

I can't say that I've ever paid the slighest attention to why anyone left the table or where he went.

Leave your ego at the enterance, I doubt anyone cares AT ALL where/what limits you play.

Also, the good players at the 15/30 game will know precisely why you moved to the 10/20 table and they will respect your game selection without you having to say a word. The ones that would tease you about it are the idiots who don't understand that you are moving to a table that is more profitable for you, and you should not care what the idiots think. |

Re: Backing off of your usual limits
A very good poker player once told me that you never classify yourself as a certain limit player (for example a "15/30 player"). You just play poker. The limit you play should only be determined by game selection and bankroll.
I doubt anyone noticed where you went, and if they did they were probably admireing your decision. |
