Default Hand From 9-Max Tables

Well I'm more comfortable raising hands like KQ from EP. How did I play this hand?

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (9 max, 8 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. MP2 posts a blind of $1.
3 folds, MP2 (poster) checks, 2 folds, Hero raises, 1 fold, MP2 calls.

Flop: (5 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, MP2 calls.

Turn: (3.50 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, MP2 calls.

River: (5.50 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, MP2 bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 7.50 BB

If you're going to call a bet on the river wouldn't it be better to just go ahead and bet it when that non-threatening card hit? MP2 hasn't shown me he likes his hand all that much to raise the river.

He might have a hand thats better than mines and that he won't bet. I can also induce a bluff from a worse hand.

I guess this is one of those read specific situations. Bet into a passive player but check to an aggressive player.

I disagree with the preflop bet but understand the play. Other than that I think the hand is fine.

I don't get the pf raise. You have a minimal equity edge but you're out of position. can you explain this to me?

I would also value bet the river. If you were ahead on the turn you're still ahead now.

Actually MP2 just sat down. Looks like he's just trying to defend the blind he posted. Doesn't want to appear soft when he first sits down. Either that or he actually has something.

I may be out of position, but I'm against two random hands here. And both have also posted blinds.

You're investing 1.5 SB to win 2.5 SB so you only have to be good on the steal 37.5% of the time. I'm not sure you'll get both to fold that often, and J-high out of position, I don't like. Q9 I would do it.
