Negatives to observer chat are:

1) observers criticizing the play of certain players, or making fun of them, and sometimes driving them off

2) observers offering advice on how to play the hand in progres, like saying "I'd call him"

3) commercial spam messages

4) general nuisance and annoyance

5) ...

Positives to observer chat are: ???

1) ...???

i keep an email open with this:

I send them so many emails that my anti-virus detects potential worm activity.

For what it's worth, ctr-c for the hands before and after (and including) the spam is all they need. They can get the rest of that info easily.

I couldn't agree more with the negatives - I have found some nice donators in games, only to have people show up and criticize them on their play over and over until finally they leave. There is no advantage to observer chat that I can identify. If you're not in the hand, hush.

How many times does someone have to type "make $50-$500 an hours playing online poker" before party bans them. I see this thing every night

At least 50% of them are rakeback offers, which hurt Party directly. The fact that they haven't banned observer chat just drives home their incompetence and makes me worried about more serious things like their antibot strategy, etc.

The only thing they seem to do right is marketing.

Notice the screen name of the spammer, it is different every time. He gets at least 2 accounts closed every day. He also quickly figured out how to beat the blocking of websites in chat. It will be nice when they just add his website to the banned words list.

stopping in to say what's up to your buddies, asking if anyone's about to leave, asking general info questions if there isn't a lobby chat.

i've never used it for any of those, but i've seen it done.

you can always block it if you don't want to see it.

How do you block observer chat without blocking out all chat? Was that part of the update they put out today?
