Preflop, you need to 3-bet or fold, based on your read on him. This hand will play out differently afterwards.

i didnt have much of a read on him he was just an average joe. i dont think 3 betting pf with aq is a good idea when its os. i couldnt decide if the cold call was correct or not

Well, 3-betting is certainly better than cold-calling with an offsuit hand.

against an unknown, a fold is probably good here. A loose raiser could make a 3-bet correct.

and yes, I too believe a cold-call is the worst of the 3 options.

I'm going to take a stab and say because if he's raising loosely there's a chance it'll be checked to you on the flop and later streets where you'll get to lead the betting. Always nice to be in control

I 3-bet preflop, but otherwise looks fine to me.
