Stars 5/10 NL - 48s, too agressive?
Game is playing pretty loose. I'm 3-tabling, and running decently well, taking down a few pots with nothing and not getting paid off much.
Did I play this too agressively? I normally play 2/4 and recently decided to move up to 5/10. PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $10 BB (8 handed) converter MP1 ($1096) MP2 ($1190) CO ($930) Button ($829.75) SB ($1353.50) Hero ($1173.25) UTG ($677.25) UTG+1 ($1291) Preflop: Hero is BB with 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 4 folds, CO calls $10, Button calls $10, SB completes, Hero checks. Flop: ($40) 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players) SB checks, Hero checks, Button bets $60, SB calls $60, Hero raises all in to $1163 |

Now that's an overbet.
My concern here would be that initial better calls with a set then SB calls with a higher flush draw (thinking he now has odds to draw to it). If that were to happen, you're dead. For that reason, I like this with As4s but not 8s4s. |

Looks too much like a semi-bluff, unless you also pull this move with a set/two pair.

WOW! what were you thinking? you ONLY get called when beat and you're risking your whole stack on it...this is definitely a play that you can only make if you're used to playing with poor players who don't understand that move (which at $5-$10 isn't going to be the case), or else you've already done this move 2 or 3 times AT THIS TABLE and have shown down a huge hand.
If this happens to me, I can call with a lot more hands than i normally would knowing it's a stone cold bluff. Not saying I would call, but I wouldn't give you credit for much. |

Can we agree that the play here is to raise? How much should I raise?

i like betting out or check calling here.
CRing this hand is bad in an unraised pot. anything could be out there, and the pot is quite small. if you did a normal CR, then you are in trouble if you get called and miss the turn. play these hands aggressively in raised pots HU or 3 ways, not in unraised pots. |

Can we agree that the play here is to raise? [/ QUOTE ] No. You're much better off either 1) check-calling or 2) Leading, and then if he raises, re-raising (or possibly calling). As it stands you're basically telegraphing what your hand is . A flush draw with a pair, or a flush draw w/ a gutshot/OE draw. Are you ever playing a set, two, an overpair like this? I doubt it. And now that your opponent knows what you have, it makes it pretty easy on him to make a decision. |

its a little overaggressive too much of an overbet but i dont think its nearly as bad as some posters think, you are a coinflip against an overpair and have 30% chance against a set of 2s with fold equity from other hands that are ahead at the time, the overbet seems a little unnecessary unless you have been doing this but not so bad

I'm not sure why no one has suggested it, I fold here.
