Re: KK too tight on flop?
Besides what everybody else has said (about punishing drawers if they miss by raising), I think a raise on the flop will also give you some information you need about UTG. If he 3bets you, then he probably has a pocket pair, only 1 of which you really fear -- I don't think you can put him on AA right away, because I see QQ possibly playing the same way -- and you *might* want to slow down. But if he just calls, then you can pretty safely say that you are ahead in the hand right now (UTG probably has AK, or if he's loose, AQ, maybe JJ?).

Re: KK too tight on flop?
i would think it would matter of a number of things... how many people are in the game .. i've been in micro limits where everyone will call my raise just because the pot is big... but i still have the best hand.. but if they ALL call to the turn then if you raise turn you might be not getting as much money.. per player and loser more money for yourself

KK too tight on flop?
Yes! Very Yes! I'm not slowing down here until I cap and UTG leads turn on a blank or a club shows up. |

Results (if anyone is interested)
Thanks very much to everyone who responded - I really appreciate your input and help. It is clear to me now that I made 2 big mistakes:
1) Putting UTG on 1 hand instead of a range of hands, and 2) Not punishing the drawers. The turn brought the perfect card - KH, The river was a 2, giving me Kings full Both streets got capped, and I won a huge (relatively) pot. UTG did show - he had AA and ripped into me for capping the flop. Again, thanks very much! |
