I don't see it anywhere in the rules, but I have been paying just .2 on trades with really low prices. E.g. buy at 1.7, pay .2 commission instead of .4. It certainly makes sense, since a 0.4 commission is 40% when trading something with a cost of 1. Even 0.2 is nasty.

Of course you can avoid the commission entirely if you are a "market maker" and post a buy or sell bid in the middle of the current spread range. Of course, this only works if someone takes your price.

I had assumed that you could avoid the commission from selling by holding long and waiting for your contract to be a winner, but it turns out they charge you the commission when you expire as a winner also.

Yup, you're right. I had forgotten about the extreme prices and the market makers.

As for the InstaCASH, it's not as nice as WSEX. Here's the answer:

I'm an idiot. I bought Constantine early at about 7, reloaded later at 3, and finally gave up waiting and dumped them all for spare change at 2 just a week before he finally showed signs of life.
