Default set of 2s - poorly bet?

first, I'm a total novice so feel free to correct any mistakes or things that seem out of place.

$5/$10 6-handed No-Limit tournament homegame - $50 buy-in with rebuys.

Fairly tight shorthanded game which just began with avg. players in it - no real maniacs but villain plays somewhat erratically and will show you down with almost anything sometimes and other times simply fold to a strong bluff after putting a lot of money in the pot - a bit tough to read sometimes.

Hero is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. All fold to villain who is on button and who flat calls. Hero checks to see flop which comes 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. I open for $15 thinking I'll be able to suck him in for a raise given the flop assuming he's got something like 8-8 or better. He calls - leading me to believe he's got either straight possibility or low overpair.

Uh-oh - the one card I didn't wanna see just hit the board so now I'm worried. Still, even if he's got straight I count 10 outs to a boat and figure I might push to see where I'm at so I bet $20 which he calls. River is a blank which is where I go wrong (i think) by going all-in whereas a check might have not cost me all my chips and told me where I was at. After some deliberation he calls and shows 56 offsuit for the straight.....

so what did I do wrong??

Wrong forum, this belongs in the Multi-table tournament forum.

Next, when posting tournament hands post stack sizes.

It is hard to comment without knowing your stacks, but the push on the end seems pretty bad. What hand do you expect a call from that you beat?

I'll assume deepish stacks. On the flop you bet 15 into a pot of 25, that is a nice size bet regardless of your hand if you are going to lead.

On the turn the pot is 65, and you bet 20. That is an ok I think. The turn is unlikely to have killed you (since he would need to be chasing a gutshot or have 44 or 24 for the turn to have changed things). This is really like a milking bet.

On the river, a blank comes. Pushing here is bad unless villain is the type to suspect a push is a bluff and call with something like 54. You have a strong hand, and don't want it checked through, but you do know villain is capable of having a better hand here. This is a good spot to lead 20-40, and call a small raise. If villain pushes, you have a decision to make.

Again, stack sizes matter a lot.

Oh, and I am assuming you are well out of the rebuy period.

thanks - sorry for being in wrong forum but yeah rebuy period was gone and we both had fairly deep stacks but I think you are right the push at the end doesn't make any sense at all given where we were at and the fact that villain wasn't thinking I was bluffing from what I could tell
