MLB 4/5
ATL (Smoltz) +117
ytd 1-0 +1.40 I also plan on taking CHC (Maddux) but the only available line right now is -114 at Pinny. I think that's a good price but Pinny usually favors the underdogs so I'm waiting for some other books to post their lines to get the best one. |

Re: MLB 4/5
The Fish has NO system plays for 5/5. Minn. does not fit into the system, nor is it worth chasing a a road favorite at -162!
All the best. |

Re: MLB 4/5
Bos (Clement) at NYY (Pavano) +147
As I suspected, this line is way out of whack. Two biggest reasons: 1. Pavano is very overrated. He pitched well last year, but his K rates are low, and last year was his ONLY good year. He should be league-average this year. 2. Boston got slaughtered in game 1. Many people probably read too much into this. Boston was +180 in game 1 with Johnson vs. Wells. I thought this was a marginal pick... Even if you think Pavano will do well this year, no one can possibly think he is nearly as good as Johnson. And Clement has had multiple strong years, a high K rate, with no signs of slowing down. He's certainly better than Wells. From starting pitching alone the Sox probably picked up 1.5 runs over last matchup. That seems to warrant a much bigger change than +182 to +147. I think Boston is about even to win this game. |

Re: MLB 4/5
I'd like to pull the trigger on ATL too but I just can't until I see Smoltz pitch once or twice. He hasn't started in quite a while. But with Mazzone and company and his natural talent and determination he will probably make the transition back to starting just fine. I'm just not betting on it yet

If you have this handicapped as such what about fading Minn. today? [/ QUOTE ] IMO, there is no need to play, just to play. I only try to grab, (what I think) are high percentage plays. This is just not a play in my favor. Not only that. My idea is that we'll try to hit averages. It is really to early in the season. The system kicks in about two weeks into April. Also, I like teams to get into a rhythm. Rain this time of year makes for a bad set up. i.e. Home team loses the 1st two of three, third game is rained out. Ouch! But I have learned never to play, just to play. |
