4/8 mini blind at UB best strategy?
Has anyone played this game and, if so, what adjustments do you think are appropriate? Tighten up pre flop and more agro post flop? Thanks for any thoughts on this.

I would think the opposite; see plenty of cheap flops and take advantage of the likely multi-way pots.

Since there will be less money in the pot from the pre-flop betting round, I would think you would want to play tighter. Speculative hands will not get the usual odds to play on post-flop like in the normal sized blinds games. Playing aggressive post-flop with your big pairs and TPTK (or very good K) hands would make sense, I think.

Read the current 2+2 internet magazine article on mini-blind strategy.

This is completely wrong. Dont forget the implied odds from rounds when the betting limit is higher.

Re: 4/8 mini blind at UB best strategy?
If your opponents tend to go too far with their hands, then I certainly agree. The games at UB tend to be somewhat tight, so I was responding to that scenario. A lot of your strategy will be dependent upon how your opponents play in these mini-blinds games.

what the hell are you guys talking about? [/ QUOTE ] UB has an Annie Duke table that's 4/8, however the blinds aren't 2/4, they're 1/2. So, even the BB needs to complete. Thus, I'm not sure that I follow some of the advice in the thread so far that says you can see flops cheaper. IIRC, it's not any cheaper to see a flop at this table than a typical 4/8 table, as ultimately it still costs $4 to see the flop (assuming no raise). Been 4-5 months since I've played UB, so I might not remember correctly. |

with no raise, it costs 2$ to see the flop. with one raise, it costs 6$. the flop onward has the same structure as a regular 4/8 game.
