Re: Shaking
From my experience shakey hands are mostly indicative of:
1) Monster hand 2) Monster bluff 3) Player that is new to 'real life' poker 4) Improper RedBull to Vodka mixture |

Re: Shaking
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] you gotta be careful when you do that though. Before people I play knew that shaking meant a monster I would fake it and they thought I was nervous. They now know what it means, so I can fake a little tremor when I am bluffing to make it seem like ihave the nuts or whatever. As Caro says, you gotta watch to figure out who is acting and who is teling you the truth before you act on tells. [/ QUOTE ] I meant to also say that I often drink 6-8 cups of coffee while I'm playing so I shake no matter what. [/ QUOTE ] Same here. My hands sometimes shake a lot. It means nothing. |

Re: Shaking
Shaking is typically a *release* of tension so it usually happens when the player has a sure winner though obviously it could possibly be nervousness on a bluff as well. I was recently involved in a hand where I had the stone cold nuts and a guy kept re-raising me up to about 6 bets on the turn. I'm 85% sure I wasn't shaking during the hand, but as soon as the hand was over I could barely stack my chips just from the excitement / release.

Re: Shaking
The only time I notice myself shaking is when I take down my first pot of the session -- don't know why it happens, but after that, I'm steady.
I've seen guys shake when they're holding a big hand, but they also shake for other reasons. I'd put the overall tell value of the shake at about 60%, depending on the player, of course. Women don't seem to do it at all. |

[ QUOTE ]
Whenever I've moved up a limit for the first couple of times, I'll shake when I'm calling, raising, bluffing, folding... you name it. [/ QUOTE ] or if i don't know if my hand is good. If i know my hand is no good i'm surprisingly calm :-p |

Re: Shaking
[ QUOTE ]
Women don't seem to do it at all. [/ QUOTE ] Not true. My fiance plays. She started out online and after a few trips to the casino, she began feeling comfortable. I was taking a break and talking to her while she played. I don't look at her cards while I do this, but one hand I notice she's dropped her hands beneath the table on a paired flop and they are shaking very badly. Guy bets, few callers, my fiance raises then puts her hands back under the table where they continue to shake. It gets raised and capped back to her. She calls...hands back under the table. The turn and river are similar, although people start to drop out to the raises. Heads up to the river where it goes 6 bets before the opponent realizes what's happened and calls. He flopped a K's full and she flopped quads. She says that when she's got the nuts in a big pot, it still happens. |
