Kane's homophobic epithets aside, it is an interesting question.

For the longest time, Matt Flynn, Diablo and even many other "name" pros allegedly shied away from the Big UB game because of fears it might be dirty. The obvious implication is that collusion was in place. Might this have been akin to fearing a Jewish Conspiracy???

Lol, probably not, as witnessed by the fact that most of the previous naysayers, are now playing in the games, either as a regular or taking calculated shots.

I have posted this and actually received decent responses in the past in the other topics section, as to why the seeming prevalence of Swedes and Jews in the big games.

In Murray's controversial and widely discredited "The Bell Curve," he did point to Ashkenazim Jews as having the highest group IQ in the world. From what I read about standardized testing, in additon to "Americans are stupid," i read that Sweden tends to score near the top in most subjects (certainly dominating the EU).

How does this relate to poker. Well, it now involves big money. Talent goes where the money is. Talent brings friends, family along. Which brings questions of whether there is a Matzo Mafia, or a Blond Cosa Nostra.

second- I can't believe that you somehow managed to take a post with a concept that the original poster does not understand into something meaningful.

As a side not, what I have noticed that huge %(prolly 30-40%) of the swedish high stakes players are orginally from Turkey, and naturally 30-40% of swedish ppl are not from there, I would say about 5% which is just a quess.
And those players are generally pretty good and not a gamblers.

Maybe they have some good compination of scandinavian thinking and turkish temperament.

Who is this Spirit Rock that you speak of?

I sat with a Spirit Rock a couple days ago on a Party 400NL (maybe 600NL - can't remember) table.

I felt cool, to be playing with such a talked about and revered player.

Then I watched him lose 3/4 his stack with AA to a flopped set and I realized that we're all just human (some jewish, some not).

You realize this speaks to, at least the perceived texture of the Big NL games?

Perception being reality, I think this thread is more pertinent to High Stakes NL strategy than the "wouldn't Daniel N be dreamy if he were just 'more masculine?'" so often seen in "other topics" or "news, views"
