The infamous dice chips:
Dice chips often advertised as "REAL CLAY CASINO WEIGHT 11.5g POKER CHIPS". Note that they are NOT clay, they're plastic with a metal slug in the metal. Also come in other designs, like "suited", "AK", etc. Basically, any time I see "11.5 g", I just run the other way, because most of the nice chips are 9-10g. If you want high end chips, stick with the brands Tomb mentioned. If you want chips exactly like casinos use, you either want Paulsons or Chipcos. There's no real "bad brands" per se because most any brand people have actually heard of makes good chips. No one really knows who makes the dice chips... Edit: 1 exception about the brands. You probably don't want Nexgen chips, even though they're decent for the price, they are not high end chips. You'll know if they're high end by the price. With the exception of the Nevada Jack ceramics (i.e. "Desert Sands", "Skulls"), which are nice chips ~0.50 per chip, most high end chips run around $1/chip. Oh, and definitely second (or third I guess) the idea of getting samples. Samples are a must. |
