Re: Teach me about scalping/middling
Im now understanding how middling works but can someone give me a real life example of where you used middling and try to keep it as common as possible. Its probably going to be very uncommon to find a truly good set of lines for middling but I can imagine finding quite profitable ones. Thanks for any info you can give me as I find this to be a lower risk proposition that would be better for a beginning sports bettor with a limited bankroll.

Re: Teach me about scalping/middling
Easy Example:
NFL Game Eagles vs Pats Book A: Pats -6.5 Book B: Pats -7.5 At Book A you would take the Pats -6.5 and at Book B you would take Eagles +7.5. This would be a great opportunity to middle as you would be getting 20-1 on the game landing on 7. And in NFL football the game lands on 7 quite often. |

Re: Teach me about scalping/middling
Great info guys but tech can you give me a better example. At first glance the info on the pats and eagles line looked great but is it really only 17-1 to hit on 7 points as for some reason I thought it might be a little more.

Re: Teach me about scalping/middling
[ QUOTE ]
An example of scalping would be, you find these lines on 2 sites for the same game: Site A: Yankees +120 Cardinals -140 Site B: Yankees -120 Cardinals +100 If you bet the right amounts on the Yankees at +120 and Cardinals at +100, you're guaranteed a profit. Of course, this probably is an extreme example of the overlay you can get, but it shows the point. [/ QUOTE ] This is probably obvious, but how do you figure out how much to bet on each side? This is probably obvious, but how do you figure out how much to bet on each side? [/ QUOTE ] Assume you have $200 to wager on the line I mentioned above. Start at 100 on each side. Yankees win, you get $220 back, Cards win you get $200 back. You guarantee no loss, but if the Cards win you don't get any profit. To guarantee a certain payout, use these equations: X = Amt. you put on the Cardinals Y = Amt. on Yankees Z = Total amt. bet A = Decimal odds on Cards (in this case, 2) B = Decimal odds on Yankees (in this case, 2.2) If you don't know what decimal odds are, look it up on a sportsbook FAQ, they explain it well. X + Y = Z AX = YB Solve both equations. In this case, X = $104.76 and Y = $95.24. Bet those amounts on the sites, and you guarantee a profit of $9.52 from your investment. Rounding to the dollar gives $9 or $10 profit, depending on who wins. |

Re: Teach me about scalping/middling
Thanks!
Also, how many books do you generally need to belong to make these plays regularly? Are there mailing lists and/or discussion groups or forums out there for trading these lines with others in exchange for exploitable lines I've found? Also, does it pay to add some money (say something small like $200) to something like Neteller and transfer money to sites (where you already have accounts) in order to scalp a certain line, then move it back to Neteller, move it to whatever sites your next scalp is at, remove it, and repeat? Basically I'm asking because I'd have a small bankroll like $200. Rather than put only $25 on 8 sites and leaving it there permenantly, limiting how much I could wager on each scalp significantly, it would be great if I could move money around a lot so that I would be able to have all of my bankroll split between each of the 2 sites where I was doing a certain scalp to maximize profits on each one. Hope that isn't too confusing. I don't really want to constantly move money in and out of my checking account as that gets confusing and hard to keep track of and/or balance my checkbook, hence why I mentioned Neteller. Thanks for the help. |
