Sigfried and Roy Confused on the river
PokerRoom 5/10 Hold'em (5 handed) converter
Preflop: Jayrutz is SB with Q Q (rainbow flop, suits don't play) villain calls, MP calls, Button calls, jayrutz raises, BB calls, villain calls, MP calls, Button calls. Flop: (9.60 SB) A, 6, 7 (5 players) jayrutz bets, BB calls, villain calls, MP calls, Button calls. Turn: (7.30 BB) 4 (5 players) jayrutz checks, BB checks, villain checks, MP checks, Button checks. River: (7.30 BB) 2 (5 players) jayrutz bets, BB folds, villain raises, MP folds, Button folds, jayrutz calls. Final Pot: 11.30 BB I can't imagine that the 2 spades helps villain here, unless he has A2, but even there, turn check is really confusing with 5 players in...HELP!!!! |

Re: Sigfried and Roy Confused on the river
I might call the river out of sheer bafflement/curiousity as well.
22 or A2 seem likely though. ZZZ |

Re: Sigfried and Roy Confused on the river
hard to see 22 calling the flop lead out from middle position...looking back, it seems like a middling Ace or low suited A is his likely hand, no???

Re: Sigfried and Roy Confused on the river
Hmm, I am putting my money on 72s ("but it was sooted!").
I have no clue what he has, but I do have a rule that if someone makes a bet that makes absolutely no sense, and I am getting long odds on a river call with a decent hand, I always call it. I definitely think I call down enough oddball bluffs in such situations that the rule is merited. -muz |

Re: Sigfried and Roy Confused on the river
It just seems weird to me that if the guy had Ax, he didn't have the guts to bet the turn, but he does have the guts to raise to river. So I assumed the 2 helped him. Or he's just doing something random.
I don't think it would be that strange for him to call the flop with 22 looking for a set in this biggish pot. Still, there's a lot more Ax's then 22's, so you're probably right that Ax is more likely. Curious about the results. ZZZ |

I call, Villain shows A8 and MHING. Really weak turn play imho...to me, I probably pay him 2 bet either way, but with 5 flop callers I am sure he gets one or two other payoffs with a turn bet...
