Default Routine Blind Steal Hand?

$3-6 at PP

I open raise on the button with Kh9s. SB folds, BB calls.

Flop: 5h-6d-9c BB bets, I raise.

Turn: Qs. BB bets, I raise.

River: Qc. BB checks, I bet.

BB has A,5 or A,6.....you got a crying call on the river.

I like it. I've been trying to work on my blind stealing and defending against blind steals. I think there's a lot of opportunity for profit in both cases that many players miss.

Well played in my opinion.

I open raise with K9 on the button virtually 100% of the time.

Flop raise good.

When the Big Blind bets into you on the turn, you should begin to worry. Your aggression on the flop makes it less likely he will bluff bet into you on the turn. I see two ways to play from here. First, when he bets you raise, If he makes it three bets its time to think about releasing this hand. If he only calls, you can check behind his check on the river(provided you do not improve). This is how I would play it against an opponent who does not bluff enough.

The other way is just to call when he bets into you. If he is bluffing, raising here, may cause him to fold. By calling the turn bet, you may induce another bluff bet on the river. This is how I would play it if my opponent bluffs too much.

Stu,

Good response

"Flop raise good."

Since I will raise the flop here with nothing but overcards many times, I must raise when I actually have "the goods".

"If he makes it three bets its time to think about releasing this hand"

Absolutely.

"If he only calls, you can check behind his check on the river(provided you do not improve"

If he only calls, he will very very rarely checkraise me on the river. So while he may call me with a better hand from time to time, he will likely call me with worse hands far more often. This is especially true when the 2nd queen comes on the river. I think I have an easy value bet on the river.

"The other way is just to call when he bets into you. If he is bluffing, raising here, may cause him to fold. "

This is true. And sometimes I do just call here. But sometimes I am raising the turn again based on a read (this pattern screams 'one pair' a lot of the time') but with no hand. So again, I need to raise here with a probable best hand for the sake of balance. This just happened to be one of those times, mostly due to the number of goofy straight draws that were out.

"By calling the turn bet, you may induce another bluff bet on the river. This is how I would play it if my opponent bluffs too much"

This is a good adjustment to make. In this particular hand, I did not know my opponent, so played it more straightforwardly.

I think this is a particularly important area of your game to work on when playing at Paradise.
