Default Overcall on river with second pair?

semi-tough 15-30 game.

MP open raises....he's reasonable, a little on the tricky side, but not a ton. He's cold call by the cutoff (CU)...he's bad...which is obvious since he just cold called a raise....

I call in the BB w/ T8c

Flop comes T54, two hearts. I bet out, both call
Turn brings Js, putting two spades on the board. I bet, both call.

River brings 9d. I check for reasons that I don't want to go into (cuz i really have no reasons). MP bets. CU calls
Your play?

I folded, MP showed 77, CU showed A9h. Comments?

Thanks,

Josh

That was Gummyworm check-folding the river, not Josh W.

An easy call on the river IMO. Unless you were setting up an
"image" for future hands, your fold makes no sense. Did you think the nine made a straight? Afraid of a jack or two pair?
I think your river check is ok, but you must call.

Maybe what happened (a common occurence) is that you misunderestimated your opponents.

Checking on the river was reasonable....but folding to a bet was a mistake. You had a clear call on the end.

you should post your results in a seperate post. also you shouldve, for this one said you called and then asked for comments. because when you ask if you shouldve called it's obvious you lost the hand.

i cant imagine not betting the river in this particular case. i also cant imagine not calling the river if i checked.

i wouldve went for a checkraise on the turn btw.
