Two pair on board, what to do when holding pair?
Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (9 handed) converter
Preflop: Hero is MP3 with 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 4 folds, Hero calls, 1 fold, Button calls, 1 fold, BB checks. BB is rated as Callingstation. If not, I don't want to give him a free card Turn: (2.66 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero bets, BB calls. Now there is a card really didn't want to see. O well, again I thought leadning out was better than check/call. But maybe I should have checked here after all. River: (4.66 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) BB bets, Hero raises, BB 3-bets, Hero calls. Final Pot: 10.66 BB Comments? Feels like my play in this one really sucked! Should I check on turn and go into check/call mode? Maybe fold somewhere |

Re: Two pair on board, what to do when holding pair?
Raise or fold this preflop, but don't openlimp. Personally, I would raise this if you think you have a chance of stealing the blinds or getting it HU and taking it down with a flop bet.
Your flop and turn play look good. I'm not too sure about the river. I hate to raise in this spot if I don't feel comfortable folding to a 3-bet, which I'm not. I probably just call. |

Re: Two pair on board, what to do when holding pair?
Why is 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] not a card you wanted to see? If you were ahead you could not have lost the lead on that card. It's one of the few really good ones in the deck, along with 4's, 3's or 2's.

Re: Two pair on board, what to do when holding pair?
I think it’s fine until your river raise. When a player this passive leads that river into an aggressor, I’d just call and hope he doesn’t turn over a pocket pair higher than 44.
