Well here's where I think this particular type of opponent is interesting to play against. I figured if I bet and was called, I could be up against a worse ace, or I could be behind. However I also figured this is a type of board where a thinking lag is more likely than normal to try to bluff at the pot. So I decided to bet, expecting a fold, hoping for a call with a worse ace, and almost anticipating a possible bluff check-raise.
I thought it was interesting that I checked behind on the turn to avoid being check-raised and didn't mind the river check-raise possibility at all. Anyways, that's what happened. I bet, he raised, I called. My hand was good against A8o.

Yah, inducing a bluff by betting...I don't think I've ever done that before this hand [img]/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]
The thinking lag opponents seem to give people trouble (including me) at party 10/206max and I felt I took advantage of their tendencies in this hand. I took away their turn bluff check-raise (which is a powerful weapon in this type of hand) by checking behind, and gave him the opportunity to bluff on the river when I felt I had a much stronger read on his hand. This is why the turn check-raise is much more scary than the river check-raise. On the turn I still don't know much about his hand, but once he checks the river I pegged it almost exactly.

Without reading the posts. I vote bet, call a raise. This is a great spot to get him to bluff when you probably have the best hand.
