Default When are you shortstacked?

For no limit tourneys how many trips around the table should you have left before you are considered shortstacked. If the blinds are 50 and 100. Thats 150 for every 10 hands. How much is shortstacked in this example?

I should add that you can be different degrees of short stacked. You At 15bbs, you are medium short stacked. At 5bbs you are short short stacked and should look to push preflop soon.

Default Re: When are you shortstacked?

You are short stacked when you have to commit a quarter to a third of your stack for a standard preflop raise.

If you happen to encounter a table where a min-raise will accomplish everything that you seek from a normal raise of 3-4 times the big blind, then what constitutes a short stack is effectively smaller. (This situation can be found at some small buy-in online tournaments where the blinds will automatically fold to a min-raise. I occasionally see the same behavior at final tables when the blinds are medium sized stacks unwilling to risk becoming a short stack.
