I've been working my way up thru the limits, so finally got around to checking out the $6-12 game at Borgata. Got there about 10am and got a seat at 11am when they opened the second 6-12 table. As advertised, I thought the game was a easier than I'd found the Trop $4-8. I was surprised as how passive the game usually was. Guess I was caught up in the other's loose-passive play and didn't make much progress in the first couple hours. I was probably a little loose and a tad too aggressive, but hell it ain't a friggin lottery. Guess I got down about 10bb after 3-1/2 hours, but finally caught some flops and made a 18bb run the last two hours. Some of these guys just wouldn't lay a hand down. My assessment of the table Sat afternoon was that all day there were at least 3-4 playing questionable stuff, 5-6 players either didn't care or ignored pot odds and chased anything to the end. The other thing I found surprising was the number of dealer errors. Easily a serious screw up every 60-90 minutes. I never was on the short end of an error, but lessoned learned here....never turn loose of your cards until you know you're toast. I found the game very beatable, actually easier to beat than some $2-4 or $4-8 games I've played at the Trop. I'll be back for $6-12 at least a couple times before jumping to $10-20. If you now play $4-8 somewhere in AC, I highly recommend you buyin for $240 and give the Borg $6-12 a go, you'll be surprised how soft it is. Best of luck. BB

One dealer error every 60-90 minutes dosn't sound so bad to me. Of course I've also gone 8+ hour sessions without a single one. As you noted, protecting your hand is paramount.
I do agree about how soft it is. If you've ever played NL I suggest trying the 1/2 NL. Its even fishier and is the only reason I don't play 6/12 (even though I'm a better limit player IMHO) |

I'm working my way toward the small no-limit game. My current game plan is to target Memorial Day for the jump to $10-20 and 4th of July to give $20-40 an initial shot. I've done most of the required reading and played countless hands against Wilson software products, but still need some seasoning with just 20 hours so far in B&M casinos. Typical engineer, over analyze everything...confident I'll get there, just don't want to get "clubbed like a baby seal" as I earn my chops. Best of luck....BB

Nope, I was in the 9 seat. If I recall you were running quite a bit better than I, and you had like $500 in front of you when I left. Didn't notice any fish tendencies in your game.

I remember the 9 seat changing over a lot. Or, maybe when you left, I didn't notice, and a young kid came and in busted pretty shortly after.
were you wearing a colored collared shirt under your sweater? Gray hair? I can't picture a 9 seat that looked 43. |
