Default Lupin\'s Weekly Poker News Digest (3/16-3/22)

Garofolo to star in "All In", Annie Duke sitcom. I guess this is good news for 3 or 4 fans of both Garofolo and the concept.

Getting to more relevant matters, PartyPoker considers going public for $6b

This one is a little bit scarier, as it could really start accelerating the legal/financial/collusion issues:
Pokerroom to launch cell phone client 4/11 for both play money and real money.

North Dakota Senate defeats Internet gaming bill. The bill was largely irrelevant, however, and barely passed the state House.

Lakes entertainment to aid in OK casino development. Lakes is run by Lyle Berman and basically owns the WPT.

Majesco to release hold'em title for nintendo DS. Sounds kinda dumb to me, but whatever. It'll be at least as popular as hellmuth's idiotic cel phone game. Apparently, they're going to have freeroll satellites for a tourney that ends in vegas. This seems kinda silly, considering the average age of the system's owners.. Here's their page for the product.

This realtime odds calculating software was so useless they couldn't sell it. Google wouldn't let them advertise it, so they've altered the service to fit it through loopholes. This qupte is all you need to see: "The software, RealTimePokerOdds, tells players the exact odds of their Texas Hold'Em hand winning, whilst they're actually playing." I do like their url, though: http://www.free-online-poker-odds-software.com/

This zinger wins my story of the week award:

A former federal inmate and poker buddy of mobsters has sued the mayor of Las Vegas, accusing Oscar Goodman of illegally pocketing the pot from a high-stakes card game played nearly a quarter-century ago.

Court papers allege that Wright, who in 1980 was serving time for transporting a stolen aircraft across state lines, was one of several Leavenworth inmates involved in a no-limit Texas hold 'em poker game played at the penitentiary in Kansas that October.

Goodman, then a defense lawyer for reputed mobsters and high-profile criminals, allegedly was assigned to serve as "the bank" and hold a $500,000 pot for the participants, which included one of his clients.
