Interesting 24 hour poker idea?
We're making a trip to Vegas sometime soon, and we're going to try this out for a poker game idea. What do you guys think?
------ The Las Vegas Poker Rally is 24 hours of poker mayhem on the Las Vegas Strip. In order to win, competitors will need poker skills, stamina, cunning, and of course luck. The rally will visit up to 14 casinos in 24 hours. The rules are as follows: 1. Each casino on the list represents an opportunity for players to win a “skin”. In order to qualify for the skin, a player must win a hand with a pocket pair or AK, AND show a profit of at least $25 at that casino. 2. If more than 1 player qualifies for the skin at a particular casino, whoever posts the most profit at that casino wins the skin. 3. If no players qualify for a skin at a particular casino, the skin money rolls over to the next casino, and so on until the skin is won. 4. All players will arrive at and leave each casino at the same time. The order in which they join the waiting list (or are seated) is determined by profit/loss at the previous casino. Whoever made the most money (or lost the least) at the previous casino may join the waiting list first, while the player with the poorest performance will be seated last. 5. Upon arrival at each casino, we will make a group decision as to which of the available games may be played. In general, we will tend toward fixed limit Holdem at limits of $4-$8 and below. As availability and group desires dictate, we may agree to allow no-limit games with blinds of $1-$2. 6. When the last player in the group is seated, the clock will be started. One hour later, play at that casino will conclude (for all players) and we will move to the next casino. 7. When the one-hour clock expires, any hands in progress may be finished. Scores are then locked at the end of that hand. At your option, you may continue to play until your next blind, though your score will not be affected. 8. We will travel on foot from one poker room to the next, as originally planned in the Poker Rally rules. 9. Play will conclude 24 hours after starting, OR when fewer than 2 players wish to contest the next skin. 10. The designated order of casinos and value of each skin is indicated on the scorecard below. Upon arrival at the casino, each player adds the indicated amount to the skin pool (which may already be substantial if a skin was not won at the previous casino). 11. A player may drop out of the competition at any time, but will forfeit any claim to the current skin pot. 12. New players may join whenever the group arrives at a new casino, provided that a skin was won at the prior casino (thus new players may not win a pool to which they did not contribute). The list of casinos move from North to South on the strip, starting at the Sahara and ending at Mandalay Bay. |

If this involves good friends and lots of alcohol, it could be genius. Watch out for waiting lists though.

Re: Interesting 24 hour poker idea?
How about something more like a race?
You could set it up to where each player starts at the first casino and can't advance to the next one until they win a hand with a pocket pair or AK. Each casino could have a multiplier that got higher as you go down the list, so there's a benefit to moving down the list. Everybody could put in something like $50 and the winner gets a good chunk of it. |

Is this an official event? or something planned among friends??? [/ QUOTE ] Planned among friends. There's a certain amount of honor code here involved. We won't do it with strangers. |
