Here is a good website with photos San Fran Stuff

Washington Square is cool. Statue of Ben Franklin. On one side of the square is a great cathedral that is worth seeing - Mass is given in English, Spanish, Chinese, and I think Italian, at different times. On the other side is an old 'bohemian' coffee house. I forgot the name. Funky bar/music stuff is close by but forgot the street names or area (North Beach?). Just walk around and see things. Pretend you are Richard Brautigan.

Regarding poker, a quick search at Pokerpages tells me that Lucky Chances is my best option while I'm in SF. Yes?

I liked LC but according to Diablo et al. Artichoke Joe's is better.

Also, I would highly discourage you from going to Fisherman's Wharf. If you like quaint shops and such they can be found on Union St between Polk and Fillmore, Grant St in North Beach, or Sacramento Street west of Divisadero. If you want views go to Twin Peaks when it's clear (bring a jacket) or the Marina.

Mario's. They have fine focaccia sandwiches as well.

Food:
Oliveto's (oakland, but right on the bart line). damned good ritzy italian. not the pasta joint you'd expect in North Beach.
Gary Danko. Pretty much, this and French Laundry are the two best meals I've eaten. ever. call now for reservations, though, and even this might be too late.
Piperade. Basque food. i was never a fan of basque food before I went here. never really tried it, actually. big fan now. plus, there's a cute hostess that works the front who's been working every time I go.
Tong Palace. if you're looking for chinese food, check out this one on Clement (the new chinatown). much better than the name places like flower lounge (blech).
Molinari's and/or Lucca Delicatessen. these are pretty similar italian delis. great sandwiches at both. Molinari's is in North beach and Lucca is in the Marina. good picnic lunch type stuff.
Big Nate's Bar b Que. there's better Q, but 1) I wouldn't want to send an out of towner to some of those areas and 2) when else do you have a chance to be served by a hall of famer (nate thurmond).
Koi Palace. This one's a little outside the city. very big name dim sum place and the prices reflect it. great experience, though. I have some built in disdain for "name" chinese and dim sum places (my wife's pretty picky, and a chinese speaker), but Koi Palace is the nuts. Look at the ratio of black hair to other color hair (good idea at any chinese joint) and you'll immediately see the difference between this and HK Flower lounge.

all the above listed places are easily serchable on the web
afa things to do, if you don't fish or golf, I can't really help you. if you do fish (and want to on this trip), pm me.

Make it a point to stop at the Buena Vista for an Irish coffee when you visit.
