We're into good steak, maybe some italian, maybe some asian fusion stuff... but really anything will work as long as its good food and atmosphere.

I live across the golden gate bridge in Marin so I can tell you about places over there mostly. One great steak house is called the Buck Eye. It's about five minute drive across the gg on the freeway to get there. Its probably one of my favorite restuarants. If you're into Thai food there's a fantastic place in Sausalito (just across the gg bridge) called Arawan that I highly recomend. If you like seafood there are tons of places in Fisherman's Warf.

"Chinatown in SF has the best chinese food you'll ever have in your life."

Quick tip: In Chinatown, they call Chinese food "food."

What are you, Chris Rock?

Just to clarify, I was going for more of an absurdist/Stephen Wright vibe with that post and it may have come across as dick-ish, which wasn't my intent. Sorry.

That's pretty much my standard ethinc food joke, like if someone mentions that they love Belgian waffles I say that in Belgium they just call them "waffles."

He said that because Chris Rock made that exact joke about Chinese food years ago.

take a trip over the Bay Bridge to Oakland . It's a nice small town on the other side of the bay where you can have a nice lunch, drink some wine, hit some shops, and check out the view of San Francisco from across the bay.

I always enjoy taking the 49 mile scenic drive. And Golden Gate Park is beautiful.

If you've never been, do the other tourist things: shop around Union Square, walk on Grant Street in Chinatown, take the cable car, do Fisherman's Wharf. Union Street (as opposed to Union Square) is a nice semi-funky shopping street.

Oakland Chinatown actually has better food than SF chinatown. SF Chinatown is chalk full of stupid little shops to buy trinkets and c rap. In SF on clement st. they have better chinese food too.

I totally agree with fishermans wharf though. Any number of places to go to get a clam chowder bread bowl. A must have if you are at the wharf.

If you like Prime Rib there is a "house of Prime Rib" somewhere in SF. Very good.

I always seem to find myself in Japan town on Geary street too. nice little area and the food is outstanding. I recommend Mifune.

Hope this helps. Have a good time!
