Default Glossery

Is there an onling glossery of some of the terms used by the here and other places? For instance, I know what BB, SB, ITM and a bunch of the others mean, but there are quite a few (ROI, VPIP and such) that, while I have an idea of what they are, I'm not real sure and it would be a big help to know exactly what each stood for.

So I was thinking ... rather than ask 247 seperate "what does that mean" questions it would be nice if there was a glossery somewhere online that explained these terms.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Dean

welcome to the forum Dean,

beginner FAQ by SheridanCat

abbreviations list

In the future, do yourself a favour and read through the forum a wee bit as often the info you seek is staring you in the face. I actually got the links I posted for you from a post titled "glossary" that was approx 10 posts below yours. It is amazing how the same questions get asked on a regular basis (hey we've all do it). Also the search function is very helpful on getting info you seek, although I use google for my 2+2 post searches.

Cheers,
the Real Macoy

I DID read both those. I'm looking for something with a little deaper explination than is given in those links.

For instance (to use one I already know):

UTG Under the gun.

When I first started reading this forum (and others) I would have liked so see:

UTG Under the gun. In any hand the first player to the left of the big blind therefore the first to bet pre-flop.

Something like that.

Dean,

If those links aren't clear enough I would suggest two things: first, get yourself some poker books and start educating yourself (e.g., for beginners Ed Miller has a brand new book on HE, next read SSHE and finally TOP.....once you hanve done this you will be a completley different player.....since you have read the beginners FAQ i can use the short-handed titles) and second, google forum/internet abbreviations as I know a lot of the short-hand you see is internet related....that is what I did....there are literally thousands of glossaries at your disposal).

Finally, if you actually put the necessary info in your posted questions I am sure the answers you get WILL suit your needs a lot more (nobody reads minds here, although some of the Pooh-Bahs seem to be able to at the table).

Happy info searching,
the Real Macoy

The FAQ does. These are all PokerTracker abbreviations, which are explained in detail in the PT docs. Which I explain in the FAQ.
