calling the raise from the BB
i'm pretty loose on my calling raises from the BB and wanted to know what most posters guidlelines are. mostly when i'm against a single raiser and everyone else folded... (i play tighter with more in... except i play more drawing hands b/c of the big pot odds). but my thoughts are this... very few hands are really a 3 to 1 dog preflop and i'm getting 3.5 to 1 on my call. when you hit you can often trap the preflop raiser for a couple extra bets and when you miss you can fold quickly on the flop.... plus i love when the guy with AK goes on tilt b/c my 46o beat his AKs and he starts giving away money... i think putting a guy on tilt can win you a ton of bets if he plays for another 30 minutes that way.
thanks for any thoughts Gerard |

Re: calling the raise from the BB
It's not just about pot odds. It's about being out of position, having to deal with reverse implied odds, and a number of other things.
Calling with hands like 64o is very rarely +EV, unless you're a very very good player. It doesn't seem, from your post, like you have the requisite knowledge to really be delving into this yet. It's really a post meant for HUSH, as defending your blinds becomes much more important in HUSH situations. Rob |

Re: calling the raise from the BB
my thoughts are two pair or better or a fold right away... bad odds of getting this but i've found u have such high implied odds in these cases. and stupid question ... but what is HUSH?

Re: calling the raise from the BB
Its a terrible idea to call lots of raises from either blind. In a loose game you can call a raise with AT WORST - a hand you would play from late position (although stay away from weaker off suit holdings as you will often be dominated). In a tight game you need to tighten up some and stay away from hands like ATo and KJo. I hope this doesn't sound too rude but you need to buy a book.
