Every month I host a single table NL tourney and every month we end up arguing when it goes from 3 players to 2 as we are confused as to what to do with the button, blinds and who to deal to first, who acts first etc etc
Help!! |

Everyone's gonna have a different opinion, regardless of how most online poker sites handle this.
Just agree to the rule you want, write it down on an index card, and stick it in the deck of cards. Make the rules clear before you start the game. Just remember that rules conflicts are more about emotions than they are about finding the absolute truth. Find something the majority can agree with BEFORE THE GAME and have fun. |

With two players, the button posts the SB and acts first preflop. The button then acts last postflop. As to the exact hand when it goes from three to two, it depend on who just went out, and this is where I don't know for sure. I think the rules are... If the button goes out, the BB from that hand gets the button. If the SB goes out, the button goes to the BB. If the BB goes out, the SB gets the button. Seems most equitable anyway.
Deal the cards however you want. It's all the same. Slim |

In my game when the 3rd player busts we have the button move to the left and the button posts the BB until the game ends.
This rule allows the non-button to act first. That was the main concern since we are all too drunk at this point to handle any complications. No joke. EDIT: Slim professes the absolute truth. My group willfully ignores this due to the afore-mentioned inebriation. |

i think you can safely move the button to the left in every and it is alway equitable.
ive also heard that the BB moves anytime someone goes out no matter what position they were in. this is not contradictory from 3 to 2 i dont think |
