Could I have got it all?
William Hill, Pot-Limit Hold'em, £0.5-£1 (6 handed), £100 Max buy-in
Button (£70) Hero (£95) Button just loves to raise when checked to... its like a fix he needs. Preflop: Hero is BB with A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Checked round to Button, he bets pot (£3.50), SB folds, BB calls. Flop: (£7.50) K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Hero Checks, button bets pot (£7.50), Hero calls Turn: (£22.50) 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Hero checks, Button (after a very long wait) bets pot (£22.50), Hero re-raises all-in, Butoon folds. Final Pot: £67.50 Just wondering if a flat call then a raise on the river might of worked, or a smaller raise? Or was it better to take the pot now? Cant see any draws im afraid of. Any thoughts would be appreciated. |

Re: Could I have got it all?
I think leading out for a pot-sized bet is better there. If he has a hand, he will play with you, if he doesn't then he won't play the turn anyways. Unless he's a habitual bluffer. If he is, then just call the turn and let him bluff the river again.

Re: Could I have got it all?
Regarding the turn only:
I dont play much PL but this might be one of the rare times I dont feel the need to raise the turn. The pot is gonna be 67.50 Let him bet one more time build the pot some more and then push..... There are no draws out Im really afraid of here ....whats the rush? |

Re: Could I have got it all?
Cheers for the thoughts guys.
He is definitly a habitual bluffer, which is why I checked to him on the turn. Though I feel if I just flat call the turn, and check the river, I doubt he will bet again. I think I should of flat called the turn, and pushed on river. |

Re: Could I have got it all?
Given your read on villian, waiting for the river is possibly a decent move, but you should lead out not check raise the river in that case.
Preflop play is standard. Betting out the flop is of course the default play, but by all means vary that line on this drawless flop with your read. |
