Chopping here is a mistake if you are only getting 50/50 for several reasons:
-It's not entirely random who will win at this point. You feel that you are better than your opponent and the blinds aren't 25k/50k or something completely absurd. You still have a slight advantage over your opponent in playskill. -You have more chips than your opponent. Even if the blinds were 25k/50k and you were forced to gamble 50k of your stack you would still have 8k left to battle back with. Although the chance is low, it is still higher than 50% that you would win in gambles here. A 50/50 chop in this situation eliminates your varience, but decreases your EV at the same time. The only reason to take an even chop here is if you need the additional funds for your bankroll and can't afford the varience. This being said, I would try and negotiate a chop relative to the amount of chips I have. If not, I would suck up the varience and gamble. If it really was a 50/50 chance of winning with, then its just a matter of how much you like to gambool or want to be the "winner." -Craig |
