Default AK suited or not

I know this has been discussed a gazillion times and is in just about every hold-em book around, but this starting hand still drives me nuts every time I get it. My "tight" side says get in cheap and get out if the flop doesn't hit. My "looser" side says to hit it big pre-flop and try to drive others off the pot.

Posted here 'cause I play SNG's almost exclusivily.

I'd appreciate any thoughts.

Dean

Default Re: AK suited or not

At the 11$ level AK is worth 3x BB raise early...drop it if you miss and there is action to you post flop...drop it if your looking at substantial reraise preflop,no sense busting here when there is plenty of time to gain chips later

Once blinds reach 150 or so push it if your stack is getting short...but if you have a decent stack raise it and let the small stacks blow up on you reraising with their AJ etc...jmo
