TP/TK and value betting the whole way :)
Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (9 handed) converter
Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. UTG calls, Hero raises, 1 fold, MP2 calls, 4 folds, BB calls, UTG calls. Flop: (8.50 SB) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players) BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets, MP2 folds, BB folds, UTG calls. Turn: (5.25 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) UTG checks, Hero bets, UTG calls. River: (7.25 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) UTG checks, Hero bets, UTG raises, Hero calls. Final Pot: 11.25 BB So the river, should I fold to the check/raise? I remember reading on here bearing the question: When was the last time you won a hand on the river where you were checkraised? Re: TP/TK and value betting the whole way :)
UTG is not bluffing with a missed flush or straight draw, because if he was he would have bet the river. Looks like your beat, either trip, straight, a straight, or a pair of queens. My guess is a poorly played trips. I fold.

Re: TP/TK and value betting the whole way :)
You're still getting about 10.25-to-1 on the last call.
Calling the check-raise isn't so bad here. |

Re: TP/TK and value betting the whole way :)
Calling down is right. People will sometimes take stabs like that with a busted flush draw.

calling that check raise IS that bad when you are losin 10 out of 11 times, which he is.

[ QUOTE ]
calling that check raise IS that bad when you are losin 10 out of 11 times, which he is. [/ QUOTE ] That would be incorrect. If he is losing 10 out of 11, he should call because it is +EV. Proof: EV = 1 * 10.25(he calls and wins) - 10 * 1 (he calls and losses) = +0.25 BB |

Re: TP/TK and value betting the whole way :)
Joshua's post is correct. Party players think of this in different terms:
"If I can checkraise and win the pot 1 in 20 times, I'll do it." Yes I know it's not 1 in 11, but that's at best. Some just decide to checkraise with a flopped bottom pair for no reason. You've gotta call for just one more BB. |

Acute correction on my mistake.
I shall rephrase He is losing 11 out of 12. Man, he's losing this pot 95% of the time. Lay it down. |

Re: TP/TK and value betting the whole way :)
Though I lack the data for this, I can recall instances where players on party have checkraised me on the river out of frustration with a busted flush draw or some crazy hand. What you are saying implies that has never (or very rarely) happened to you.

I agree yellowjack.
I agree that someone C/R this river out of frustration sometimes. I'd say about once every twenty instances. I don't waver from my original statement. Fold. |
