You know MP3 has at least one of them because he coldcalled two preflop. [/ QUOTE ] Assuming others play like you do is a massive mistake that many players make. |

Re: JJ - Do you do anything different?

I don't understand why river is a check/call. Pot isn't big and there are two overcards. You know MP3 has at least one of them because he coldcalled two preflop. WTF? [/ QUOTE ] He's a 54/8/2 after 26 hands, he doesn't play a reasonable game preflop. You can't deduce much from his preflop cold-call. After the turn we can (probably) put him on some sort of draw, most likely the flush draw. If I check to him again on this river, he might try to bluff with a hand like T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. |

Ok, would check/fold make sense if the river was a spade or the As? Would it still be better to check/call because pot is sufficiently big (and because the villain seems to be a LAG)? What if pot was smaller at the river (say 4 BB). Would it still be worthwhile check/calling this then? Thanks and great hand joshua |

Re: JJ - Do you do anything different?
I'd check-fold if the As came.
You have to almost check-call any other card though as postflop has been played so passively that any busted draw will take a shot at the pot. |

Re: JJ - Do you do anything different?
When the raise the flop on a two-toned board, then check the turn, they're often on a flush draw.
When the ace hits the river, I would check/call. He might you beaten anyway, and if he does only have a busted flush draw, I want to give him a chance to bluff at it. |

[/ QUOTE ] Also, is everyone in agreement about the turn play? Would bet/fold to a villain raise be sane at all? What if villain had bet the turn when you checked it? Edit: if villain bets the turn after you check, is folding okay (can take him off of flush draw, no?) |

Re: JJ - Do you do anything different?
bad bad bet on river. there is no way he's calling with a worse hand and there is no way he's folding a better hand.

Re: JJ - Do you do anything different?
I think I might 3-bet the flop against a laggy MP3 to try to see if he has the King.
I would check-call the river; I think you might be good 1 in 7 to a bluff (missed flush) or lower pair. But I don't see the merit in betting because he will raise with an Ace. EDIT: I see Clark agrees with me. Way to go, Clark! |

Re: JJ - Do you do anything different?
Ya, I wouldn't bet into an ace on the river.
