Re: Pharaoh\'s Club Paulsons - A blank instead of a 25¢?
If this set is Egyptian themed, then why use $ instead of the some ancient Egyptian denoms. I know that currently, it's Egyptian Pounds, but in the past, it went through several different denoms because of different occupying empires.

However, this is a fantasy casino set. A big part of the appeal is that they are supposed to be real casino chips. I think they're going to need the dollar signs without a doubt. [/ QUOTE ] That may shoot down my idea - let alone others doing so - but why not make the entire set non-denomination? Just have the chip color, artwork and Pharoah's Casino script with no dollar amount? If you go with denoms, I'm in favor of a $1000 for sure. I play mostly tourneys, but when we do cash games the $25 becomes $0.25, $100 becomes $1, $500 becomes $5 and $1000 becomes $10. |

what about making a "second" group buy for a chip like this to use as a 0,25$ chip. This will make the set unique and realistic. Don't know if poulson sell thiese chips (single color with no edge spot) but it would be wicked cool if we could have a hot stamped pharaos 0,25$ chip.

[/ QUOTE ] Well, I think getting one group buy to 100k chips is going to be tough enough as it is, without trying to split the buy up. That could just cause problems and sink both group buys! why you would want to spend 80 cents to a dollar for a hotstamped chip is beyond me, they look cheap. |

Isn't it gorgeous? Plain round inlay, low-tech graphics, 3 1/2in. white edgespots- and yet, is there truly a more attractive chip being used today? [/ QUOTE ] Hi, Coleman. I absolutely agree with you, except that I think these chips haven't been in use since 1955. Which would explain the cool design sensibility behind them. Anyone know different? As far as I understand it, the Moulin Rouge never really operated as a casino after getting busted for something or other in late 1955. Hmm... fifty years old... I wonder if that means the copyright has expired on the designs? Wonder what the art people at pokerchips.com or similar would say if you asked them to reproduce the Moulin Rouge chips as closely as possible? |

Re: Speaking of denoms...
Agreed. I've noticed a theme with a lot of the iconic designs I really love (not just poker chips). They very often seem to involve well-chosen, somewhat retro fonts, and the use of black and red against a white or off-white background. Who knows why these things punch our clocks?

Re: Speaking of denoms...
Is there a copyright attorney in the house?
I'd love to copyright the names of a batch of ancient illegal casinos. What wonderful chips I could make! |
