Rats,
I wanted the white to be $1. I love white/red ring games.
I prefer the orange to be $1000.
I'd rather have the blue chip blank or $.25.

i feel like if you're going to do denominations, you should make them worth money.

so a 25 chip is not as interesting to me as a $25 or a 25c chip.

i understand the flexibility issue. i'm solving that by planning to use this set for tournaments only. i'm buying nexgens with labels for my cash game, until i have another $1000 in a few years to spend on nice chips for my cash game.

I don't intend to order any non-denominated chips.
"Chips iz Money" I always say...
I'll bet you could split the inlays on one or two colors, just to cater to the non-denominational buyers.

A blank white chip will extend the life of this set for home games. It would allow someone to play .05/.10, then move to .25/.50, then .50/$1 without getting rid of their set. Problem is that it will be the workhorse chip and will get pretty dirty.

If you need nickels, should you really be spending a grand?

I have to say after reading the "tournament set" posts that a blank white and a $1000 orange is probably the best bet. Sacrifice the orphan low denom color to the swing chip and then there's a nice orange $1000 denom for those lovely heads up battles. People that need a nickel cash game set can just use the 1% denomination rule, they could buy $5 and up chips and never even see one of the $1 chips.

Although the no currency denomination will accompolish this as well as make the set international friendly, I have to vote to put the $ on it... the non currency chips just seem bleh to me.

I'm not in for this order, but I thought I'd throw in my 2 cent chip anyway .

I think there will be a crowd who would like a denominated 1k chip, as a non-denom big chip feels a bit cheap. There will also be a crowd who would like a denominated 25c + something useful as a nickel chip (for low-limit stud games).

How about use the orange color for BOTH 1K and the non-denominated chip. This provides a lot of flexibility, but the non-denominated chip would be unusable as a $5k chip (would anyone use a non-denom as a 5k chip?).

This seems like a great idea to me. Have 2 versions of the orange chip - one with $1000 and one blank. Possible or impractical?
