Must do in Vegas?
So I am hanging out in Vegas for a couple weeks with a friend with plenty of free time. Of course we are putting our time in at the tables and online, but I'm wondering what everybody thinks we else we should do.. that is, what is/was some of your favorite non-poker activities in vegas?

Go to the top of the Stratosphere and ride that damn ride that shoots you into the sky. I highly recommend getting drunk first.

Re: Must do in Vegas?
For something simple (and free), set aside about half an hour and watch the Fountains of Bellagio at night.

Most evenings at the Ava Lounge in The Mirage there is a great cover band that plays. Isis is their name. Great free show. They play all types of music and do a great job at it. If you need to kill a couple hours this is a great way to do it.

[/ QUOTE ] Go to Lotus of Siam at lunchtime for the best Thai food you will ever eat. Order #52; do not get the buffet. It's in the Commercial Center, 900 block of E. Sahara, about a 10 min walk east of Sahara Casino. |

Play penny slots at Hard Rock, tip the waitress $3 to start and tell her that for every drink thereafter, you'lle ach give her $1. You'll be toasted for under $20 each and can then attack the night life.
Talk to the conceirge about the best place to go that night (it changes nightly) and either get there early, talk your way into a free pass, or go to vegas.com and buy a VIP pass. |

Re: Must do in Vegas?
Boulder Dam. Do the dam tour.
Red Rock Canyon. Spectacular scenic drive about 15 miles out of town. Lots of places to take a little hike to see the desert close up. To make a day and a night of it ... head out 90 miles to Baker, see the world’s biggest thermometer and have a fresh strawberry milkshake at the Mad Greek’s ... spend the day driving through and exploring Death Valley ... head toward Pahrump. Once you are back in Nevada and it’s dark, you might want to explore some of the flashing red lights off in the desert ... yes, they are really there, and they are really legal. Or just take a look around small town Nevada, chow down, gas up, and maybe even play a little poker before heading back to Vegas. When the road gets really twisty, winding through some small hills and canyons, that is the recommended place to get rid of your used beer as well as any fireworks you may have bought in Pahrump. Those little canyons give some very impressive echos. Gunfire is best reserved for this area, also ... the louder the faster the better. As your attorney, I strongly advise you to consume massive quantities and drive at high speed through the desert. Do I know how to have fun, or what |

[/ QUOTE ] Just bought the DVD of that movie - good god...I think I got a contact high/buzz from the friggen film - about 7 surreal events occured that night after watching it - and I wasn't really even drinking, let alone on drugs. I second the Bellagio fountain show recommendations btw - I think it's every 15 min. from 6pm-12am - RB |
