Default Re: Pharaoh\'s Club Paulsons - A blank white or a blank orange?

Speaking from a tournament player perspective, with all of the other chips having denom's the $1000 should have them as well. It just adds that little somthing extra when that hits the table. $1000!!! A blank chip just doesn't have the same effect IMHO. I will not be getting .25 chips so those do not matter to me either way. I say don't have a blank. Do you feel the Egyptians needed a blank to fill in somewhere? If not, do we need one here?

No, I never considered it at all with the Chipco set. But for this one, I though that it added one option for all those people that HAVE to have a 50¢ chip, or a $2 chip, or $5000 or whatever. There are always home games that play a certain way, and it all gets messed up if they don't get that one special denom.

I voted for a blank orange. I will be usuing the set for cash games. we play NL .25/.50 blinds . i will not be buying a white .25 because it will get dirty so quickly and i really hate white chips. ill use the orange as .25, and then if our stakes ever increase i could use it as whatever denom because it has the flexibility. so in essence, i think both chips should be blank, or make the white one $1000 if u must only have 1 denom-less chip.

i already have a tournament set. in my opinion, Paulsons are meant for cash games. who is actually going to use a $1000 chip consistently? are your tournaments that big? i dont see a need for it, unless you are Joe Highroller over there.

edit: you could always break out the $1000 octagon if there was a drastic need for a $1000 tournament chip. i dont see a problem with mixing and matching different style chips.
WSOP does this all the time.
In 2003 the low denom chips up to $500 were Paulsons and then they went to Bud Jones for the higher ones.
In 2004, all the $5 chips were hot stamped Paulsons and the rest were Bud Jones.)

Here's a random thought and something my neighbor did with his Chipco's.

Don't put a $ or cents sign on the denominations. Then you can reuse the 25 as a $25 or 25 cents. If we are in a cash game, we use 25, 1, 5 chips. Then when we are in a tournament, we use the same chips (plus black) but the green becomes $25.

Not ideal, but it tends to work out well for us.

Just a thought.

I will only use these for cash games most likely and even for tournament play I do not see the need for a $1000 chip at all. It only doubles the $500. Unless you are running a large tourney it makes no sense. If you are running a big tourney you probably can't afford these anyway.
I would like to see a denominated 25 cent chip but I don't care what colour. 50 cent chips are a specialty chip and are about as useful as a $1000.

I understand the idea behind not having a $ or cent sign on the denom, but I really dislike the look. It makes it look generic. If there is going to be denominations, then there needs to be the $ as well!

I don't really care which one is blank, although I do like the idea of having a 25 cent chip.

The blank white can be used for either a 25 cent chip or a 50 cent chip. And the orange (1000) will be used for tournaments.

I agree: No $ or cent sign.....just a number.

I like leaving off the symbol also, but then I would rather see no denoms anyway....

Rats,
I wanted the white to be $1. I love white/red ring games.
I prefer the orange to be $1000.
I'd rather have the blue chip blank or $.25.
