Macintosh poker?
Are there internet poker sites with software exclusively for Macintosh? I know about Virtual PC is supposed to work but would prefer Mac designed stuff. Thanks. <font color="black"> </font>

Re: Macintosh poker?
PokerRoom has a Java client. Other than that, you're pretty much screwed.

Re: Macintosh poker?
You are stuck with pokerroom unless you buy a PC. If you plan on playing poker online seriously (to make as much money as possible) your only choice is to buy a PC. This way you will be able to play the site of your choice without the huge inconvenience of running it through virtual pc. Seriously, the small investment I made in my PC was the best thing financially I have ever done. And windows isn't sooo bad once you get used to it.

Re: Macintosh poker?
You're stuck. I finally gave in and bought a machine for poker use. It's not so bad--I already had a router (they're like $50), so I use the mac for web browsing, email, chatting, whatever. I haven't tried pokerroom, but my experience has been that mac Java apps don't work as well as they are supposed to.
I know, it's not the answer you want. I'm not going to make the switch for "real" stuff until I have to, but I agree with the other posters here--spend a couple hundred bucks, buy a low-end used PC (it's not like you'll need much processing power), and you'll be much happier. Besides, in the Party 3/6, you'll pay for it in a day. |

Re: Macintosh poker?
I actually think Poker Room is a great site. They don't have the same game selection, but if you play low limit, there's always a bunch of 2-4, 3-6, 5-10, and micros, plus there's often a 10-20 and 25-50. I like their tourneys too. Every night at ten there's a 20+2 15,000 guaranteed. On the weekends there are rebuys and the guaranteed number is higher. There's also bugsy's club. They have software for the mac, but almost no players. There multi table structure is like a WPT event, though, which is fun. You start with T10,000. It's kinda neat...

Re: Macintosh poker?
I reiterate all...
I am a Mac user since 1984, but you do need to give in to WinTel to play online, sans PR. Good luck with the known security issues, spyware, spamware, worms, virii, trojans, crappy OS, lame support and a second-rate architecture. Other than that use your Mac and Good Luck! Re: Macintosh poker?
Damn the PC weenies...
Try also Hollywoodpoker.com. They're a Pokerroom skin (Java-based). BugsysClub.com is accessable if you download the free software available from pokerschoolonline.com It's Mac-Friendly and I haven't had any problems with stability. VictoriasPoker.com is also mac-friendly, but traffic is extremely light. Unfortunately I may be following the get a PC advice eventually. I'm new to the game and can't justify the expense until I aquire some skills. Cheers... |

Re: Macintosh poker?
Pokerroom works great on my powerbook. I also run virtual pc for the windows only sites. The only time it gets bad is when I try to run a few tables on party with poker tracker. So I've resigned to just running the tables and importing the data later or playing on my desktop if I want up to the minute stats.
if you can afford it getting a cheap pc for playing just poker isn't a horrible idea. I would like to see some native poker clients for apples though. |
