Some of you might be amused to know that the guy who plays Lister is about to compete in a UK reality TV show called 'The Games' where he will be up against various other 'celebs' in a series of sporting events.

The events are:
High Diving
Weightlifting
Sumo
Gymnastic Vault
Speed Skating
Water-Ski Jump
Cycling
Javelin
100m

Saw the preliminary show yesterday showing them in training and he very much resembled his Lister persona - he smokes 40 a day and he was shown throwing up on the way to a training session with an unspecified illness (ie hangover!)

Given that, at 40 years old, he's one of the oldest competitors and is by far the least naturally fit it should make for some amusing viewing.

More info here.

I think it is getting seriously overhyped in this thread.

Strange, I just read the book a week ago. Didn't know it was a tv show.

Well, it's a book, and the title is Red Dwarf: Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers.

The books are basically retellings of of various Red Dwarf plot points and scripts until the 3rd one, IIRC. If you have seen the show, most of it will sound very familiar. Still hilarious, but familiar.

Red Dwarf is definitely in my top 5 fav TV shows of all time.
