How many hands was this read over?

And also, that's not a bad limp IMO behind 3 limpers and with a CO poster. Loose for a 15% guy, but you'd expect him to loosen up in that position. Maybe not that much, but really, that isn't like super surprising.

[ QUOTE ]
it looked like a good hand to illustrate my point from a learning point of view.

Ok I don't get it. Are you saying from your PT stats on the guy you didn't think he could possibly play T7s? Or are you saying that reads don't tell you when someone will keep raising and you have the nuts save a few inexplicable hands? Your going to have to be more clear, because I don't see a point besides your good hand lost to an unexpected 2 outer and now your wondering if you should continue to 3 bet the river with your full houses.

if anyone does have any dissenting opinions on my play, post away.

I raise this preflop from the button because its fun to raise and you have the button and there are a ton of crappy limpers in front of you and hey let's build us a pot.

I dont think 98s makes enough strong hands to warrant a preflop raise.

JTs I would though, it makes more top pairs that can hold up.

I'm saying that most people will not assume someone with a VP$IP of 14% will be playing T7s in pretty much any position outside the blinds (doesn't look like anyone else gave him credit for it either). I actually thought he had QTs. I'm also saying that it seems like too many of the hand posts don't include much in the way of player specific reads- just stats. Stats are great, but I think some of the newer players are spending too much time relying on them rather than focusing on the players themselves and that that can detrimental to their development as a player.

Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe this hand wasn't as good an illustration of that point as I thought. My bad.
Btw, if that was a veiled accusation that I was just making a bad beat post or whatever- no your wrong.

mid suited connectors in huge fields are excellent preflop raises. Immediate odds leave you right in the middle equity-wise, but implied odds will give you much better results. JTs and QJs are a little better, but dependings on a J with a T for a kicker isn't going to win you many pots.
