Default happiness stems from...

My goal in life is to be happy. I would venture to guess this is the same for a lot of people. I thought about this a bit and decided that my happiness stems from these things, 1 being the most important.

1 - friends/family
2 - health
3 - $$$ (financial well being)
4 - companionship of the opposite sex

pretty simple really.
what would your list look like. some things I left off were spirituality, and having kids (lump that in there with family). The kids thing I look forward to, but I'm still young. The spirituality thing I'm working on.

Freedom to pursue things that interest me would be #1, the rest pretty much the same except I would seperate family from friends with friends coming a distant third/fourth with money to health. Basically I would give up my friends before I would cancer and probably for a large enough pay off.

Hey its MY list. If you want the PC version try
4 - companionship with the opposite or same sex, or animal. Or any inanimate object.

That's got it covered i think.

1) SEX!

That's all you really need clearly.

All joking aside though I am a little suprised you put companionship so far down on the list. I would put that one or two for me right along with family. Having a person to live my life with is much more valuable and fullfilling than money could ever be. What good is health or money if you can't share it? And who will be there when you don't have either? Yes, of course I hope your friends and family will be there, but it's not the same. Living with someone and truly loving them and experiencing with them makes for a whole different level of understanding.

Granted, many people can live great and fullfilling lives w/o being married, but for me being married and having a family is the ultimate thing. Then being able to support them would be nice too...but that's why we come to 2+2 to become better gamblers

Hey you said it best - SEX. I much prefer my friends over my girlfriend, although I've definitely never been in love. Sex just isn't THAT important to me, but granted it made my top 4 in goals of life....

Evolutionary speaking, sex should be your primary goal.

I actually thought about this. But I thought that sex stems from the first 3.

I also wonder if cavemen learned how to beat off. Prob, not - just go club someone.
