Default Did I play this correctly? Flopped Boat

This was in a 3 table tourney $25 Buy In I played recently, 1st hand of the night:
Blinds 100/200
I'm dealt Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 10[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] - 1 left of BB Position
I raise to $1000, BB+2 Folds BB+3 Calls, ... SB Folds, BB Folds

Flop:
Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 10[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 10[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

I bet $1000, opponent calls

Turn:
3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
I bet $2000, suspecting a flush, I'm raised to $4000, I call.

River
A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
I bet $1000, I'm raised to $2000, I go All-In

Opponent flips A-Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] - Two Pair

I win with Full House 10's full of Q's

Now that I think about it, he could have easily had Q-Q, shoudl I have played this differently?

ummmmmmmmmm, no
theres no way anyone will get away from this hand unless the board goes runner runner to pair the board with aces or kings, and even then it be tough to do.

When do you think people do go all-in???? If not with this then with what?

This would be better off in the Multi-table tourney forum.

BTW, he also could have had AA, but you still played it fine. I'd probably push earlier in the hand than that, actually.

You played it fine, judging from the information posted. In the future when you post a hand, note stack sizes and just more information in general. It makes it easier to analyze.

Thanks for the advice, that's why I signed up on this site.

We started with $10K in chips, so the pot was $20,300 (all my money, all his money, SB and BB)

I think you mean you started this tournament under the gun - meaning you were the first person to act.

Raising QTs UTG early in a tournament is wrong. Also, if you are going to raise, you should generally raise an amount approximately 3 times the big blind. 5 times is too much.

[/ QUOTE ]

Generally, after the flop you want to make a bet of about pot-size. This bet was less than half the pot.

However, you hit a monster, so under-betting the pot is fine. T1000 is especially good, because it's the same amount you bet pre-flop, so it makes it look like you're just blindly flailing at the pot, or that you don't know what you're doing.

You should have gone all-in. In this particular case it doesn't matter all that much, because you're both committed, so all the money's going in no matter what.

But in the future, if your opponent raises you on the turn when you hold a very stong hand (like a flopped boat), you need to go all-in.

Yes. You made an over-size bet with an inferior hand that's easily dominated - and if fact got called by a dominating hand. Then you got extremely lucky.
