Playing in absurdly loose game
Hi all,
I have played a lot over the years in LV, and more recently a lot online, and in most of those games, where I play 5-10 thru 15-30, you need to play tight and aggressive to win. I have found a Casino where the 5-10 and 10-20 games are very very loose and pretty passive. 8-9 people will often stay preflop with almost no raises (except for me and maybe 1-2 others). This is a great game, where pots often reach 15-20 BB's and you will be raised and reraised even when you have the nut flush or flopped top fh. Post flop mostly plays itself, although one must be careful of people with QQ-AA who do not raise preflop, wow surprise on the river when seeing those cards. But I wonder about preflop: 1. What do you do with 99 in mid position? I would raise online, but here I might get 4 people before AND after limping (total of 8). Or late position I might have 6 limpers already. 2. What about low pairs like 33? I would fold this online from early or middle, but what about here where (a) I am getting 7-8 callers and no one will raise? 3. What about KQo? I would usually raise in late spots online, but what about here? I know that people will play any Ace, and even stay to the river with A3o...what to do? Thanks in advance, Mark Krieger |

Re: Playing in absurdly loose game
1 & 2 - limp or raise. With position and 5+ players you should consider raising a good amount of time since you are getting odds on flopping a set and you had already mentioned that post-flop can be aggressive.
3 - KQo goes down in value with so many players. I would limp with it and play aggressive post-flop. You would like to protect this hand by raising people out pre-flop but it sounds like in this situation it's not possible. If there are less than 4 players limping and you are on the button with KQo, go ahead and raise and buy those extra outs (any ace that falls should be yours) |
