Default Re: World Class Player - Paul P\'s Post re: Razz

Hi Frank:

Due to a foul up by our printer we had to re-typeset and proof read Sklansky on Poker which contains David's orginal Sklansky on Razz. Since I'm the one who does this work, I just finished rereading the razz book a couple of hours ago.

Generally in razz, if both you and your opponent each start with a three card hand and you catch bad and he catches good you should fold to his fourth street bet. The exceptions would be a very large pot which is not the case here, or an exceptionally good three card hand, which might be the case here. To know for sure you would need to know the other cards that were out which the essay does not give.

So this now looks like a borderline call to me, not an obvious call. That is it probably doesn't matter much in the long run if you call or fold. However, if there is something else working it could easily be switched to a sure call or fold depending on what that something else is.

On another note, I was asked recently how many of the "name" players, and Paul Phillips certainly qualifies, actually read my "other" books. I don't know the answer but now I know it is at least one.

best wishes,
Mason
