Playing uber tight may make money in this game, however you're giving up alot of value.

Agreed. While I haven't played the 1-2 Borgata, from my experience in the 1-2 at TStone, playing uber tight is an easy and effective way to make money. But the people who make the most are the LAGish players who look to bust you with goofy hands.

The borgata game is likely the same, and with the bigger buy-in, it becomes even more profitable to play more hands. Since so many players are willing to go to the felt with AK on, say, an A629 board, getting in there with something like A9 or A6 to bust someone can be very, very profitable if you read your opponents well and force them to put their stack in.

Advertising, by the way, isn't worth squat in these games. Maybe the one or two solid tight players in the game will notice; but with all the fish, you shoulden't be playing against the tight players to begin with.

You can easily win a whole $300 stack for 2 dollars. The people don't understand how big the pot is. Here is an actual betting pattern from last weekend.

3 limpers, sb completes, bb completes.
Pot: $10

Flop is 3 cards two of which are suited.
BB bets $50. Limper calls. All else fold.

Turn: dud
BB bets $20, limper calls

River: dud
BB bets $20, limper folds (screams flushes never come up), bb shows pocket pair for set.

IF YOU CAN'T OUTPLAY THESE PEOPLE YOU CAN'T PLAY POKER!

One other question. Do they do "business" at the Borgata Poker Room? For those who do not know, doing business is when two players are headsup and one is all in, the pot is divided into 3 sections, and the turn and river are run 3 times. Usually someone all in on a draw or up against a draw will want to do business to hedge their risk esposure. Does this occur at the Borgata?

i tried once, the table looked at me like i had three heads. no one was receptive to the idea after the dealer explained it. my guess is, from the fact that the dealer knew about it, that it may have occured in the old pl game, but not really anymore.

I try to be a strong preflop player, getting alot of chips in if I think I have the best hand. But if I don't hit on the flop, I try to get out of the way. I find that limping with T9o or K5s are -EV for me. And I find that if I bet with nothing, I'm going to get called. So why shouldn't I play TAG preflop and weak passive post flop.

You need to learn how to play those hands, not simply give up playing them. You've gotta learn to push your advantages hard, learn when and when not to bluff, learn when top pair is good and not good. THis should be easier to do in a live game. Nut peddling only makes you a little money, you want to make a lot of money.

Probably true. I think I can pick my spots better than a 2+2er with 3000 posts!
