Re: Solid play or no?
Hey Toast...
I like the turn bet as long as you are willing to fold to a checkraise from a typical player. That said, I'd definitely bet the river here. Worse hands will call you, specifically a K or a T with worse kicker. -JAA |

Re: Solid play or no?
Valid point Clark, but I don't agree. Lets look at the hand through the eyes of a typical loose-passive player. Say they have a T, which is the most obvious holding they would consider raising the river with.
Flop: I flopped top pair, so I bet. Uh-oh, I just got raised and the board is scary. I think I need to improve in order to hold up. Turn: The flush hit, plus an overcard. The flop raiser is still betting. I check-call and hope to improve on the river. River: Now a I have trips. I'll check-call and pray he doesn't have the flush. Moral to the story: I don't see a loose-passive player going for a checkraise with a worse hand. Now if the player was not a typical LP low limit player, this would not be the case. (This whole post is based on the premise that a weaker T would be the foremoest example of a worse hand that would raise our hero, but you can use the same logic to see why a K, no matter how strong, would not be a raising hand in this spot for a LP player) -JAA |

Re: Solid play or no?
After reading your post I found myself wondering what hands you fear. To me the check call on the turn is the tell as I believe most players will bet out or check-raise a flush here (though if its really loose passive then someone might have made a small flush and feared you were raising a higher flush draw). I have found myself playing it the way you did in the past because in a loose passive game I find many players with any two suited that are then afraid to bet the flush they were hoping to hit. Were you thinking this way also? Now I find myself betting more in this situation and even reraising!

Re: Solid play or no?
you trip up on the river and check behind? what would you be scared of here?
if the T didnt show i can see checking behind as an option, but once the T comes, im betting b |

"Worse hands will raise him too"
i dont see this happening on a passive table. it wouldnt be labeled that if a player was willing to raise like that...unless this player was an exception sitting on the table, which there is no indication b |

a slight misread
once i read some other responses, i missed the flush possible on the turn.
note: separating the cards a little makes it easier to read. just a suggestion that said, i've found passive players generally wont bet their draws, so i wouldnt fear the flush from this player. they only bet when they have something 'made'. so id still bet the river. b |
