Default Tricky live hand

At morongo 2/5 nl, been playing over an hour now and the sb is the center of attention at the table with lots of talking, saying he is a pro and has been playing for over 10 years and saying he makes a good average living. He only plays live. Though he is talking a lot due to people asking him lots of questions about playing poker professionally. I believe his stories and he seems good, hasnt made any mistakes and definently has good hand reading abilities. He is towards the lag side. The bb in this hand is a kid who has only 100 and is a little loose preflop, but is leaning towards the weak-tight side postflop.

Preflop folded to the pro in the sb and he makes it 30, which is bigger than the normal raises that have been going on. The bb calls.

Flop: AKx rainbow
The pro puts the kid all in and the kid starts to think. After about 7-10 seconds the pro says to the kid. "Here, if you pay me 5 dollars, you can pick one of my cards to look at." The pro spreads out his two cards and the kid says "why not?" The kid gives him 1 chip and then picks a card and flips it over revealing a Q. The kid asks if he can pay another 5 to see the other card and the pro declines. The kid thinks a little more than folds.

My thinking is that the pro has a hand like QQ or QJ and by showing 1 card, it gives more folding equity and gains him 5 dollars. Do any other poeple try something like this in live games? It seems very clever. Is this even allowed?

Default Re: Tricky live hand

I tried the same move in a $.50-1NL live game once, except it was after the hand was over and I let him see both cards. I did it after I bluffed a scare card on the river, the guy paid, I showed the bluff and he steamed and gave me the rest of his money later. I don't know if it's allowed in casinos, but I've done it in home games and it's a good psychological tool.
