Default Lorinda\'s Scary Scale and ProPoker

I am curious about how and why you rate ProPoker as scary. I have my own thoughts/experiences and am curious about other people's experiences.

I did as you suggested, then went to propoker and cashed out my remaining $250. That's after a $150 Thanksgiving bonus, $700 in paid to play bonuses and $80 in winner of the next hand bonuses. I don't claim to be the best poker player in the world, but I certainly don't lose 2+ BB per hour.

I've played at UB, Party, True, Paradise, Poker.com, ACR, Pokerroom.com and PokerStars and, while I've seen my share of strange beats, I had yet to see anything I hadn't seen in a live game (I live in Las Vegas and played full time for a while). ProPoker changed that. At least I'm only out $150.

Thank you very much.

Thank you very much.

you are VERY welcome.

also, being out only $150 real money is not so bad. every few weeks i see these 100%+ depo bonuses and decide i can now beat the site.

it has not happened yet

i'm down about $650 real money, and if you count the bonuses etc, like you mentioned, the loss is much higher.

like you, i consistently average 2++ BB/hr at almost every site and casino, but never, NOT ONCE had a winning week at propoker in my life.

i have seen only one person post that he was a winner at propoker, and i have not seen him since.

there is not ONE registered poster at 2+2 that i can remember that comes to the defense of this site..

mention things like we are saying, but substitute paradise (or ANY other site), and i guarantee you there will be respected people chime in and correctly tell you that you are a whining loser, because they beat the site.

however, i cannot seem to find any propoker defenders that have more than 1 post on 2+2. this "communal" silence is, IMO, the biggest indicator that the site aint right.

don't be stupid like me.. when you start getting spammed with depo bonuses that are 3 to 4 times as good as the competition, don't be tempted.

if the props/bots/investors can see your hole cards, it is obviously a battle you will never win. some recent things i have been involved with has educated me to the fact that evil programmers can indeed leave a "door open", allowing them to see your cards. if this were the *mission* of the site, it could be easily orchestrated.

when i think about this, i always wonder why they must do this, because of the fact that legitimate rake can be earned.

i have developed a theory that if someone wanted to do this, there is probably a LOT of money involved in systematically (sp?) breaking everyone that comes to the site.

100% bankroll confiscation is what is happening, and as long as people keep buying in, their revenue smokes the sh*t out of the pennies they would be collecting on an honest rake.

they are equal opportunity..
bring them $25, they will take it.. bring them $650, they will take it..

they have a very large and growing group of online players to draw from, and if they could get just half of them to come "give it a try just once", they will make a ton of money off us.

and what are we gonna do?? their regulation is nothing but paper, and their jurisdiction makes them untouchable.

the GREAT news is that propoker seems to be the only site that has adopted this strategy. sure, there have been, and may still be sites with solvency issues. these sites may take customer money. but it is because they went bust in their effort to compete honestly.

let's start a propoker support group for mesmerized FOOLS.

a propoker 12th step club.. who wants to be a founding member??

i guess it would be called PA instead of AA

"hello, i'm granny. i am a bot-aholic"

<group>
HI GRANNY

I have tried ProPoker on two occasions, both times taking advantage of bonuses. Call me small-time if you want, but my strategy is to take advantage of whatever promotion they have that allows me to get the hours in at .50/1.00. I was able to take advantage of the opening $75 bonus for $25 deposit. I actually was down about $15 in play, but a software error on their part credited me with an additional 25% of the $75 bringing my total bonus to $93.50 for $25 deposit. The latest bonus I deposited for the lowest one ($26 for $25 deposit) and am actually up a whopping $3.50 after 5 hours of play. I know, $26 hardly seems worth the trouble, but I look at it as a little over 100% return on investment in 30 days. Not many investments offer this kind of return and they seem to have these bonuses fairly often, it seems like every week or two they send another e-mail.
BTW, I am not a shill for Propoker or any other site. I totally agree that the play is not even close to the low limits at other sites (e.g. bot 3-bets or caps pre-flops and fold to one bet on the flop). My main concern is cashing out, and now after this post of course that Chief Cacadoodoo will confiscate my meager bankroll. I had no trouble with the first one, hopefully will remain smooth.

I've also taken advantage of the same two promos. My first 5 hrs of play netted me a cool $2, not counting the $75 deposit promo(for depositing $25; no extra bonus for me ). When the deposit $25 and get $26 came around I jumped on that one too. This last 5 hrs. cost me about $50 in play. The games at pro just seem too tough and definately very weird.

(WARNING: weird bad beat story to follow -- leave now or waive all rights to flame me afterwards)

My best weird example would be .50/1 HE, my pocket queens in the SB calling a late raise. Taking the flop four handed.

Flop comes TJQ (suits irrelevant). I've got top set and bet out to pressure the draws or get raised by the made broadway. UTG (who limped) calls. Raiser calls and button calls.

Turn is a small card (can't remember what). I bet again and get called by UTG and button, raiser dropped.

River pairs J. I bet again, get called by UTG and button folds.

I show and expect to take it down. I get shown QUADS!!! Now that's just weird. I can understand going for an overcall, but when you've got someone leading the whole way shouldn't you pop them with the nuts, unless you think they're just bluffing? Oh well, at least it saved me 3 big bets. But that play made my head hurt.

So, after about 12 hrs playing .50/1 I lost about $50 for my playing, but I made $101 for the promos; thus netting me about $50. That was the hardest $50 I ever made. Those .50/1 games were tougher than any 3/6 I've ever played in. I'm going to be cashing out soon and I won't be back unless they offer another deposit $25 and get $75, even then I'd have to seriously consider it.
